Eye Hook With Latch

The KKV Eye Sling Hook with Latch is an eye-type lifting hook for assembly into compatible chain sling systems. Select the exact model by its verified Working Load Limit, eye and hook dimensions, connected-component fit, sling configuration, load direction, environment and required documentation.

  • Eye connection for compatible chain sling components and approved coupling arrangements.
  • Spring-loaded latch helps retain a loose attachment when the sling is slack.
  • The latch is not a load-bearing part and must never support the load.
  • The load must seat in the hook bowl, without tip, side or back loading.
  • Multiple sizes and Working Load Limits are available subject to exact-model confirmation.

Description

CHAIN SLING CONNECTION HARDWARE

Eye Sling Hook with Latch

The KKV Eye Sling Hook with Latch provides a detachable load-engagement point for compatible chain sling assemblies. Its eye connection is intended to be joined to an approved chain, coupling link or other compatible component selected for the complete sling system.

Final selection must be based on the marked and documented Working Load Limit (WLL) of the exact hook, the eye and throat dimensions, the connected-component geometry, sling arrangement, load direction, operating environment and destination-market requirements. The capacity of the complete assembly is governed by its lowest-rated component and its actual configuration.

PRODUCT FEATURES

Designed for Compatible Chain Sling Assemblies

01

Eye-Type Connection

The upper eye accepts a correctly sized and approved connecting component without forcing, binding or loading an unintended surface.

02

Hook Bowl Load Seat

The load must seat in the hook bowl or saddle so that force follows the intended load path through the hook body.

03

Retention Latch

The spring-loaded latch helps retain a loose sling or attachment during slack conditions. It is not designed to carry load.

04

Model-Based Selection

WLL, eye size, throat opening, body dimensions and component compatibility must be checked for the exact supplied model.

05

Visible Pre-Use Checks

The body, eye, hook tip, bowl, latch, pivot and spring can be examined before the assembly is placed in service.

06

Order-Specific Documentation

Marking, dimensions, technical documents, packaging and destination requirements can be confirmed before production.

LOAD PATH AND LATCH FUNCTION

The Hook Body Carries the Load; the Latch Does Not

The load must seat in the hook bowl and remain aligned with the intended plane of loading. Do not apply the load to the hook tip, latch, side or back of the hook. Do not allow a chain link, fitting or lifting point to bear against the latch or prevent it from closing freely.

Important latch limitation: The latch is not a load-bearing part. Its purpose is to help retain a loose attachment when the system is slack; it does not increase the hook WLL and it is not a substitute for correct rigging, load control or inspection.

Verify that the attachment can enter the throat without forcing, sits correctly in the bowl and cannot wedge across the opening. If the application can create side loading, tip loading, back loading, shock loading or uncontrolled movement, stop and obtain application-specific guidance for the exact hook and sling arrangement.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

Where an Eye Sling Hook May Be Used

Single-Leg Chain SlingsA terminal hook for compatible straight lifting assemblies selected from verified component data.
Multi-Leg Sling AssembliesA lower end fitting where each leg, angle and component is rated for the complete configuration.
Fabricated Lifting AssembliesA load-engagement point assembled by a competent supplier using mutually compatible components.
Replacement ProjectsA replacement only after identity, dimensions, WLL, connection method and compatibility have been confirmed.

Review KKV Grade 80 lifting chain, chain-rigging assemblies and D shackles with safety bolts when specifying the complete system. Inclusion on the same website does not by itself prove that two components are compatible.

SELECTION GUIDE

Six Checks Before Ordering

1

Confirm the Required WLL

Calculate the maximum load applied to the hook and verify the WLL of the exact hook and complete assembly.

2

Define the Sling Configuration

State the number of legs, sling angles, load distribution, intended connection and whether the load can shift.

3

Measure the Eye Connection

Confirm the eye opening, section size and approved coupling arrangement against the connected component.

4

Check Hook Fit

Verify throat opening, bowl geometry and clearance at the actual lifting point without loading the tip or latch.

5

Describe the Environment

Provide temperature, moisture, corrosion, chemical exposure, frequency, shock risk and other relevant service conditions.

6

Confirm Marking and Documents

List required identification, drawings, inspection records, certificates, packaging and destination requirements.

INSPECTION AND USE

Check the Complete Hook Before Every Lift

Inspection frequency and removal criteria must follow the supplied instructions, applicable requirements, service severity and site procedures.

IdentificationConfirm required identification and WLL markings remain legible and match the assembly records.
Hook Body and EyeLook for cracks, nicks, gouges, wear, corrosion, heat damage, twisting, bending or an altered throat opening.
Latch and SpringVerify the latch is not bent, moves freely and closes against the hook tip without being used as a load support.
ConnectionsCheck the coupling component, chain, pin and attachment point for correct fit, seating and condition.

Remove the hook from service when its identity, condition, fit or latch operation is uncertain. Do not straighten, weld, heat, bend, grind or reshape the hook. Use only a replacement latch kit confirmed for the exact hook model and size, and refer repair or return-to-service decisions to an authorized or qualified party.

Eye Sling Hook Selection Reference

The original chain-sling table is shown separately from the product description so its scope is clear.

Important scope: The table below relates to the listed chain sling sizes, angles and configurations and must not be interpreted as the standalone WLL of this hook. Confirm the exact hook marking, model data, load unit, compatible chain grade, sling-angle basis, asterisk notes and controlling certificate or drawing before selection or quotation.
